UEFA Europa League Man United Ajax - Videos - Images #mufc

I am looking forward to the Tottenham game this weekend coming. Arsenalhammered Spurs today and Scott Parker was sent off so this game is going to be massive! We must win this game to keep the pressure on Man City so I hope Wayne Rooney is back from his sore throat. I cannot believe that Tom Cleverley has injured his ankle again. He has missed most of the season now due to this, we just can't seem to keep players fit at Carrington these days. Our injury list has been a constant problem foor us all season long. Oh well, at least we managed to win at Norwich thanks to goals from the two legends; Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs.

Manchester United's revenue increased to £175million in the last six months of 2011, the Barclays Premier League club has announced.
United, who are second in the table behind neighbours and bitter rivals Manchester City, released their financial report for the fourth quarter of 2011.
The figures showed that the club's total revenue at the end of 2011 stood at £175million, an increase of £18.5million on the figure of £156.5million, which United declared at the end of 2010.

The club have experienced increases in matchday revenue - up from £52.4million to £54.5million, media revenue - up from £53.7million to £60.9million, and commercial revenue, which has risen to £58.6million from £50.4million.
The club, who were taken over by the Glazer family in 2005, have a debt of £439million as of the end of last year, down from £508 million the previous year.
The reason behind the decrease in the club's debt is because United have bought back some of the bonds that were sold as part of a £500million refinancing exercise at the start of 2010.

United also reported that total operating costs rose sharply from £96.9million to £110.8million.
Net player capital expenditure jumped from £11.7million £47.9million due to the summer signings of David de Gea, Ashley Young and Phil Jones and general capital expenditure rose by £10.4million, thanks partly due to the cost of refurbishment of the club's hospitality boxes at Old Trafford.
The figures show the Red Devils currently have a bank balance of £50.9million.
The club are expected to experience a decline in income over the next six months after dropping down to the Europa League from the Champions League.

By Keith Weir
LONDON (Reuters) - A rise in commercial and media revenue helped English Premier League champions Manchester United to report growth of almost 8 percent in first half earnings on Tuesday, underlining the cash-generating power of the American-owned club.
United, the most successful soccer club in the English game, said earnings before tax, interest, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) increased 7.7 percent to 64.2 million pounds in the six months to the end of December.

Though United's on-field supremacy is being challenged at home by crosstown rivals Manchester City, backed by cash from Abu Dhabi, and they suffered an early and costly exit from the Champions' League, Europe's premier club competition, their brand remains attractive.
Deals with kit supplier Nike, shirt sponsor Aon Corp and delivery company DHL, which sponsors the club's training kit, contributed to a 16 percent rise in commercial revenue to 58.6 million pounds.
Total revenue grew to 175 million pounds in the period, up 11.8 percent. Media revenues contributed 60.9 million pounds, up 13 percent, while matchday revenues at 55.5 million made up less than a third of the total.
United now employ almost 700 people, up almost 100 on a year ago. However, staff costs account for only 43.7 percent of revenue, a relatively sober figure in the spendthrift world of British soccer.
A recent report by Deloitte put United in third place for soccer revenues in 2010-11, behind Real Madrid and European champions Barcelona.

The Flowers Of Manchester.

One cold and bitter Thursday in Munich, Germany,
Eight great football stalwarts conceded victory.
Eight men will never play again, who met destruction there,
The flowers of English football, the flowers of Manchester.

Matt Busby's boys were flying, returning from Belgrade,
This great United family all masters of their trade.
The pilot of the aircraft, the skipper Captain Thain,
Three times they tried to take off and twice turned back again.

The third time down the runway disaster followed close,
There was slush upon that runway and the aircraft never rose.
It ploughed into the marshy ground, it broke, it overturned.
And eight of that team were killed when the blazing wreckage burned.

Roger Byrne and Tommy Taylor, who were capped for England's side,
And Ireland's Billy Whelan and England's Geoff Bent died.
Mark Jones and Eddie Coleman and David Pegg also,
They all lost their lives as it ploughed on through the snow.

Big Duncan he went too, with an injury to his brain,
And Ireland's brave Jack Blanchflower will never play again.
The great Matt Busby lay there, the father of this team,
Three long months passed by before he saw his team again.

The trainer, coach and secretary and a member of the crew,
Eight great sporting journalists who with United flew,
And one of them was Big Swifty who we will ne'er forget,
The finest English 'keeper that ever graced a net.

Oh England's finest football team it's record truly great,
It's proud successes mocked by a cruel turn of fate.
Eight men will never play again who met destruction there,
The flowers of English football, the flowers of Manchester.

Anfield boos Evra in support of racist Suarez. #mufc

When Anfield, and I say Anfield because it was obviously the majority of Liverpool fans in the ground, started booing Evra each time he was in possesion I realised that they were saying it's in their view wrong to stand up to racism.

That is the only crime Evra has committed, to stand up and be counted in support for modern day civilised values.  For them to imply that he is a villain in the scandal that erupted after Luis Suarez racially abused him is to my mind incredibly saddening.  We have virtually taken backward steps in time, the progress made in the fight for an end to racism in football has been halted in Liverpool.  That is a fact.

'Kin King Kenny and his Klan have excercised such ignorance and recklessness that they have undoubtedly set the stage for a whole new wave of victims to be made.  We have already seen the effect:  A Liverpool fan has been caught on camera doing something I haven't seen in a while and hopefully won't see again: the monkey impression.

My mind boggled as I heard the scousers sing we're not racist, we only hate mancs.  Only seconds before they started to boo a man who their own player admitted to racially abusing. I feared that KKKs comments during the debacle sent all the wrong signals to fans around the world, but most importantly to the Liverpoo fans.

He was encouraging the fans to support a man who I am certain would have been sacked from Manchester United and I hope from any other huge club like Liverpool. Because we must acknowledge Liverpools' global recognition, even if they haven't won a league title in donkeys years they have international exposure and a massive fan base accross the world.  What 'Kin King Kenny has done is to in my opinion, is to ignore the obvious consequences and advice from his PR team and forge ahead in blind support of guilty racist for one simple selfish and stupid reason.  To keep his best player.  The sheer naivity of such a decision points to a level of ignorance and selfishness that is inexcusable for a professional football manager.

i really  cannot see any other reason for him to support Suarez, because if a player is going to behave like that he will only be detrimental to the club it's public image and it's global appeal.  This is the point at which I believe KKK put his own career and success as a football manager ahead of the clubs interests.
It's certainly not the love-in that Klanfield boasts about but more like that they are being shafted by 'kin King Kenny.  And looking at the league position they hold, without so much as a reach-around to take the pain away.

I say good effin' luck to them, I can only see this ending badly.  It's a bit like the blind leading the blind but they can still distinguish colours.

Manchester City FA Cup away trip diary. #mufc

It was an early start on Sunday, me and 10 mates planned on heading to the match from a pub in my local area.  We chose a Wetherspoons and I think it's fair to say City fans like a Wetherspoons as much as anyone. Maybe it's the cheap beer, maybe it's the depressing atmosphere, or maybe it's the smell of dust and cobwebs.  Who knows but the place was full of toothless geezers with City apparel that looked like it was bought on their famous European cup run of '69.

We got a couple of mini-buses to take us to the Wastelands AKA The Council Shed AKA Etihad F.C stadium.
I was pleasantly surprised to see alcohol on sale at the ground as so many teams won't sell to away fans.  I suppose Citeh need all the offset they can mustser in order to continue their ridiculous FFP flouting spending.

The game was almost over by half time so I was kind of surprised to see City come back to 3-2.  I think it killed the atmosphere a bit and I don't think anyone enjoyed the second half anywhere near as much as the first.

Seeing Scholesy return was incredible, I love the little genius and was sad to see him Retire.  I feel he was a key player in our 19th Premiership title season last year.  At the start of the Season he simply carried the team I feel.

I am about to watch the game again as I can never see what's happening at the ground.  I just go to sing and have a laugh so I always have to watch a replay to see what really happened on the pitch!

Newcastle away trtip. HD images #mufc

Well it's been an up and down week thats for sure.  Wednesday night in Newcastle was a belting trip even though we got beat 3-0.  Me and the lads had a lot of laughs on the way to and in Newcastle City Centre too.  The ground being so close to the bars and pubs is a great bonus, we went for a pint in the first pub we saw when we got off the coach.  Turned out it was decorated in Newcastle United pics of their favourites from over the years.  Some rather disturbing pics of Peter Beardsley are etched into my memory unfortunately:

After a couple of pints in there we walked over to another pub to meet some pals, It was quiet in the City, but I suppose thats because it was midweek,  After filling up on shandy we walked back up to the ground and had a good sing on the way over.

Unfortunately the game was a disaster.  I thought we were dominating the possesion but didn't really produce many chances.  I'm not sure why we didn't shoot more but we looked hesitant in attack.  Teams seem to believe they can soak up United pressure as long as they have numbers behind the ball.  This is where I feel our most creative players have to step up.  Unfortunately they looked uninspired and when we went behind from 2 really decent individual goals I just couldn't see us overturning the deficit.

Anyway, like I said it was a great night out on the tiles outside of the scoreline.  Next stop Wastelands!

2011 Manchester United Quiz Video. #mufc

Two οf thе mοѕt veteran brains іn British football recently wеnt head-tο-head аt Manchester United’s training ground – wіth hilarious results.

Sir Alex Ferguson аnԁ hіѕ longest-serving player Ryan Giggs squared up іn a trivia contest held thіѕ Sunday, 18 December іn Thе Hugе United Quiz. Thе boss wаѕ flanked bу two members οf hіѕ health check team – assistant head physio Neil Hough аnԁ club doctor Steve McNally – whіƖе Giggs wаѕ joined bу hіѕ United team-mates Jonny Evans аnd Wayne Rooney. Renowned sports broadcaster Clare Balding bravely stepped іn tο quеѕtіοn thе quеѕtіοnѕ аnd keep score.

Imagine, for a moment, that you were playing charades, and were asked to mime the film Bend it like Beckham.
How would you convey the Beckham part of that title?
Perhaps you might think back to that famous incident in which then Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson hit him in the face with a boot and act that out.
Would you, though, do that if Sir Alex Ferguson himself was in the room? No?
Well, Wayne Rooney would...

Away trip to Aston Villa - Videos #mufc

This weekend I travelled down the M6 to Birmingham where United played Aston Villa,  it was a great day out and although Chicharito got injured and will be out for a month.  I can't belive how many players have been injured already this season.

We made it down to the ground about a couple of hours before kickoff so we had time for a few pints in one of the pubs near the ground.  I'm not sure what it was called but it was only a 5 minute walk from Villa Park.  After that we made our way to the ground about 20 minutes before kickoff.  The atmosphere was great and the United fans seemed well up for it, I can't remember any of the game really and someone had to tell me who scored as I was a bit blurry-eyed from the shandys.  I sang my heart out anyway and am looking forward to travelling down to QPR on the 17th of December.

Swansea City 0-1 Manchester United Videos #mufc

I woke up late on Saturday morning so I had to rush about like a fool before getting to the meet up point for my coach.  I managed to get sorted and meet my pals just about in time and the coach arrived at the same time as we did.  We were on our way to Cardiff for a few hours, we were gonna spend 3 hours or so down there and then get back on the coaches and head into Swansea.  We arrived in good time and there was a buffet laid out for us, the very nice bar-staff served decent quality and favourably priced beers as well as supplied us with some of what were the best steak pies I think I've ever tasted.  I think me and my mates munched 10 of them before hitting the buffet!

Once all the lads were fully fuelled on beer and pies we headed back to the coaches and hit the motorway again.  All in all we probably spent 4 hours travelling down to the Liberty Stadium in Swansea.  Once we were within a few miles of Swansea the Police escort picked us up and from there our 2 coaches were guided by Police motorcyclists to the away car-park.  All traffic was kept out of our way,  side roads and round-abouts were blocked by more police and we sailed right into the ground.  The Welsh coppers had things better organised than when we travelled to Leeds, they made sure there were no traffic jams to hold us up.  In Leeds at Elland road we went from the motorway exit-slip-road  to the ground on foot due to the traffic jams and the police were not aware of what was happening untill we were 30 metres away from 1000+ Leeds fans.
So I had a hot-dog and lemonade before heading to the upper tier.  The Swansea fans were very loud, maybe the loudest ground I've been to this season and it was a fantastic atmosphere from start to finish.  I really wish there had been a few goals in the game as it would have been even louder had Swansea gotten a goal.

The game itself was fairly low-key and I was happy to see another clean sheet.  United have been less expressive in their play lately and although I have expected more from our front 6 players it's good to see 5 clean sheets in a row.  We still conceded possession too easily and frequently in the middle of the pitch and although Ji Sung Park was good at winning it back for us we really should have killed the game in the first half but we didn't take advantage of the momentum we built early on.

Sir Alex Ferguson stand named at Old Trafford.

On Saturday as I made my way to the gate at Old Trafford there was an announcement on the Tannoy; it asked that all spectators be in their seats 10 minutes before kick-off because Sir Alex's 25th anniversary as Manchester United manager was to be recognized in a small ceremony.

Both teams' players lined up in a guard of honour style and Chief Executive David Gill was waiting near the Centre spot for The Boss with a microphone.  A few words were said which I didn't fully hear and then as everyone quietened down David Gill Chief executive announced that the North Stand was going to be named after Sir Alex Ferguson!  The place was for a moment really quiet apart from the dumb Sunderland fans trying to ruin the occasion, as everyone was very surprised by the announcement.  Even from the second tier of the Stretford End I immediately knew that Fergie was just as surprised because his body language said it so loudly and clearly.

The majority of the songs were for Fergie from that point on and even though I was a little dissapointed by some of our play, it will be one of the most fondly remembered days at Old Trafford I have.  Regarding the match itself, there were some very good individual performances and I felt Patrice Evra played some wonderful attacking football.  Phil Jones deserves a mention for his attitude alone, Wayne Rooney worked as hard as usual and Chirarito's hold up play is ever-improving.  All together it was a disciplined display from United and although Sunderland didn't offer much of a test for our defence they worked very hard at stopping the Reds and their keeper saved them from a heavier defeat.

The following stats are from Man United Official Website.

Sir Alex's trophies in numbers

Silverware is a true measure of success and Sir Alex has seen plenty of it in his time at United. Here we take a look at his trophies in numbers...
Premier League (1993, 1994, 1996, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011)
1999/00 – United’s most comprehensive league title yet – biggest winning margin of points (18), most goals (97), most points in a 38-game season (91), joint-most wins and joint-least defeats (28 and 3)… good job all round, we’d say.
111 – Wayne Rooney has scored more Premier League goals for Sir Alex than another other player, netting 111 goals in 226 league appearances (up to 05/11/11) – almost exactly one in two. His goals have contributed to four league titles.
1597 – the total points we've amassed in all Premier League campaigns (up to Everton) – that’s an incredible 202 points more than our nearest challenger, Arsenal. Catch us if you can…
7 injury-time minutes had elapsed before Steve Bruce won all three points against Sheffield Wednesday in April 1993, spurring us on to our first Premier League title.

18 – the number of points directly delivered by Eric Cantona goals in 1995/96’s Double Double season. Five games had a score of 1-0 (Cantona), and he hit our goal in three draws.
FA Cup (1990, 1994, 1996, 1999, 2004)
85’ – the magic-minute mark when Cantona grasped history in May 1996. The Cup-winning goal made United the first team to land the Double on two occasions – in the space of three years as well.
9 – Roy Keane lasted less than 10 minutes of the final in 1999, injured in a Gary Speed challenge – two minutes before Teddy Sheringham broke the deadlock. Sheringham had been Keane’s replacement and had only been on the pitch for 96 seconds before he was celebrating finding the net.
15 – United hit three goals in the final against Millwall in 2004 and bagged 12 to get to Cardiff in the first place. Cristiano Ronaldo got one and Ruud van Nistelrooy a brace to tame the Lions. Ruud’s first came from the spot, only his second success from five penalties that season.
11 – Sir Alex is the most decorated boss in FA Cup history. His five trophies have made United the most successful club
in the competition, contributing to our 11 Cups.
£100 – the amount Dennis Wise bet Cantona he’d miss his first penalty in the 1994 Cup final against Chelsea. Eric
also bagged a second spot-kick in a 4-0 victory. To be fair to Wise, he did pay up.
Europe (Cup Winners' Cup 1991, Champions League 1999, 2008)
4 – United’s Cup Winners’ Cup triumph in 1991 was the first time we’d won the competition in four attempts. Sporting Lisbon ended Sir Matt Busby’s run in 1963, Porto were the victors in 1977 and Juventus halted Big Ron in 1984’s semi-final. The boss called the victory ‘a major step forward’.
759 – Ryan Giggs broke Sir Bobby Charlton’s appearance record in Moscow in 2008 by making his 759th bow in Red.
180 – There were three minutes, or 180 seconds, of injury time added to the final in 1999, a period Sir Alex said encapsulated United spirit. “They summed up everything that’s made United the greatest club in the world,” he said.
81% of fans believed that United’s 1999 European title was “good for English football”, according to a Gallup poll.

League Cup (1992, 2006, 2009, 2010)
50 – United successfully defended the League Cup for the first time in 2010, in what was the competition’s 50th anniversary.
6 – Carlos Tevez was joint-top scorer in the 2008/09 cup with six – four came in the quarter-final with Blackburn.
15 goals were scored by United on the way to lifting the League Cup for the first time in 1992. Brian McClair netted in the first match on the road to Wembley, against Cambridge United, and scored the only goal of the final against Nottingham Forest.
66,866 – the number of fans who watched United lift the 2006 League Cup at the Millennium Stadium, the last trophy we picked up in Cardiff.

Sir Alex's other trophies

Super Cup (1991)
Community Shield (1993, 1994, 1996, 1997, 2003, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011)
Inter-Continental Cup (1999)
Club World Cup (2008)
30 – On as a sub at half-time in the 2010 Community Shield against Chelsea, it took new signing Javier Hernandez just half an hour to register his first competitive goal for the Reds – a shot that rebounded off his face. United won 3-1.
22,110 – Due to redevelopment work at Old Trafford, just over 22,000 saw our 1-0 Super Cup victory over Red Star
Belgrade in 1991. The tie was supposed to be over two legs, but only the game in Manchester was played because of political unrest in the Yugoslav capital.
1 – No British side had won the Inter-Continental Cup before – United lost out to Estudiantes in 1968 – and Sir Alex
described the victory over Palmeiras as ‘no mean feat’ and quite liked calling his club ‘world champions’.
575 – In the 2008 Community Shield against Portsmouth, Sir Alex fielded a side with 575 caps between them. The experience told from the penalty spot. Jermain Defoe was the only Pompey man to score, while Tevez, Giggs and Carrick netted for us.

The recovery begins admidst debuts for youngsters. #mufc

Well last night United began to repair some of the damage sustained at the weekend. A quick and decisive recovery is needed and I was happy to see a determined performance. What made me even happier was to see young players like Fryers, Morrison, Pogba and Keane make appearances. These young lads are the future stock that will hopefully take us forward as others have done in the past. It's always exciting for me to see new talent like these.

Ravel Morrison had a great debut in the League cup last night; he seemed to be given a free role and he was all over the pitch for the final 20 minutes of the game. He reminds me of Wayne Rooney in a few ways. He is very aggressive and strong, he loves to run at defences as well as shoot from range. His short passing is sublime too and he linked up beautifully with Dimitar Berbatov who might I say put in a top draw performance; chasing lost causes and creating and scoring a goal.

Paul Pogba is another favourite of mine and had a good game once settled down from a couple of mis-timed tackles early on. Pogba is a central mid-fielder who has great composure on the ball and is always looking to recieve in space. I think the future is bright for both us and them.

Tom Cleverley also played an hour in his return from injury- He damaged a ligament in his foot I believe.  The injury was caused by an idiotic Kevin Davies' tackle at Bolton.  That was a great away day despite Davies being a w@#ker as usual.

Manchester United IPO would be 'beneficial', says CEO David Gill

The chief executive of Manchester United has said a potential flotation of the business would be "beneficial to the club" in his first public comments on plans for an IPO.

The chief executive of Manchester United has said a potential flotation of the business would be
Speaking on a trip to Senegal with Unicef, David Gill (left) told The Sunday Telegraph that the listing is "a potential" and the Glazer family, which owns the football club, will be "determining what the markets are telling us"

Manchester United were named as the richest football team this summer, topping the Forbes list of sports teams with 1.65 Billion GBP valuation.  This despite Abramovichs' murky millions which only saw Chelsea come 46th, while Bayern Munich (19th), AC Milan (34th) and Juventus (49th) also made appearances in the Forbes magazine annual Top 50 rich list.

United recently signed sponsorship deals with Aon and Nike worth around £380 million and have accumulated 333 million supporters across the globe.

Speaking on a trip to Senegal with Unicef, David Gill told The Sunday Telegraph that the listing "has potential" and the Glazer family, which owns the football club, will be "determining what the markets are telling us" amid rumours the IPO is on hold.

The Glazers are understood to be considering a flotation of a 25pc stake in the business worth up to $1bn (£643m) in Singapore.

Mr Gill would not confirm the proposed terms of the IPO or whether it would be launched by the end of 2011 with global stock markets in turmoil.

However, he said: "It is not officially on hold but the owners will be taking appropriate advice from the advisers and determining what the markets are telling us.

"But I don't think it's the level of the market, it is the sheer volatility. That's the challenge."

The United chief executive claims he is "not intimately involved in the process" and the IPO is a "decision for the owners".

He added: "I think the finances of the club are in robust health in terms of the bond interest against the EBITDA that we do have, so in that respect I am not concerned.

But it was an opportunity, and is a potential opportunity, to strengthen them even further. If the proceeds were by and large used to pay down the bond debt then that would take some of the interest costs out."

Mr Gill also played down the impact the IPO could have on the football club, despite the introduction of new shareholders from around the world who could press for dividend payments.

It seems a long time since Wayne Rooney put in a transfer request in a move that shocked everyone in world football.  Since he signed for Manchester United and issued an apology Rooney has knuckled down and given his all for the team.  His performances have been simply sensational week in week out.  He has set the standard for his team-mates and oppenents to try and keep up with him which has been a joy to watch.  Well here is a great compilation video showing what Wayne has done since that strange day when he had, I think, his head turned by some crazy money transfer deals that were going on around him.  And probably some bad advice was in there too because leaving United to sign for another club, no matter how big the transfer fee would have been a bad carreer move.

Fergies youngsters - Tom Cleverley Video. #mufc

Tom Cleverley has already played a part this season and now that the signing of Wesley Sneijder has seemingly fizzled, he has an even greater opportunity to fill some of the gap left when Paul Scholes retired.
Tom spent the last 3 years gaining experience through loan spells at Leicester, Watford and Wigan Athletic where he gained experience of first team football.  Hopefully this season will continue for him as it has started because I love to see young Academy players go right to the top of the game.  Testament to Manchester Uniteds youth policy.

Paul Scholes the legend.

I was about 14 the first time I met Scholesy, it was in the toilets of The Albion pub in Middleton.
I shouldn't have been there really, It was the first time I'd been to a pub and I was nowhere near 18.
I never said anything to Scholesy but it didn't matter because over the next Fifteen or so years I saw him around town quite often.  Looking back it amazes me that a man who has recieved the plaudits of some of footballs' greatest, would be so down to earth. Paul Scholes will come over to you for a chat when he catches you staring as he takes the kids to McDonalds!  The man really is one of a kind, you only have to see Rio Ferdinands tweets today, the guy can't big him up enough.
But as you should know, tonight is the Testamonial match for Scholesy and so the final curtain comes down on what must be One of the greatest football talents of my generation, or in my opinion of all time.
